Know before you go: Good timing for closures on SR 99, Montlake Bridge

Drivers need to be prepared for extra congestion on I-5 this weekend. There are major road closures, but fortunately no sporting events will add to the trouble.
If the state was ever going to find a fall weekend to shutdown Highway 99, this is it.
The Hawks, Huskies and Sounders are all on the road this weekend, and the Mariners season is over.
Highway 99 will be shutdown from Valley Street in South Lake Union to the Battery Street Tunnel as crews work on the west end of the Mercer Project. The Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for its the annual inspection.
The Montlake Bridge will also be closed over the weekend.
