Washington State Patrol troopers believe they prevented an assault or a possible abduction when they arrested a man with a disguise in his trunk.

A 26-year-old Bonny Lake woman was driving down 512 near the Puyallup Fair Grounds when she called 911 on Friday.

A black BMW had been on her tail since she had been at I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and would follow her through lane changes and as she traveled onto SR 512, and finally SR 410.

She was afraid to pullover. While staying on the line, she continued to give her location to Washington State Patrol Communications and the troopers moved into place around the cars.

When a trooper finally pulled up behind the BMW, it made an erratic turn into a grocery store parking lot. When the trooper talked to the driver, he said he was supposed to meet a friend at a restaurant, but couldn’t remember the friend’s name.

Troopers discovered that the woman had a protection order against the driver of the BMW, Aaron M. Johnson, her ex-boyfriend. He had been charged and posted bail after a domestic violence incident in Lacey. He had also been arrested on numerous felony charges including Burglary 1st Degree While Armed With A Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping 1st Degree While Armed With A Deadly Weapon, Rape 1st Degree While Armed With A Deadly Weapon, and Felony Harassment.

He’s now been charged with violating the protection order.

Troopers searched Johnson’s car only to discover a woman’s wig, some oversized sunglasses, a pair of black gloves, and a roll of duct tape.

“[Johnson] has some very serious charges in front of him,” said Trooper Guy Gill, “and he’s exactly where he needs to be, right in jail.”
