Two construction site workers needed to be rescued by West Pierce Fire & Rescue (WPFR) crews after they were stuck in a confined space inside a Lakewood sewage pipe.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., WPFR responded to a construction site near 6800 Bridgeport Way W., WPFR announced.

The two workers were stuck 20 feet underground and 290 feet into the sewage pipe.

WPFR noted that one of the stuck construction workers required immediate assistance.

Despite the fire department’s response, the construction workers were able to pull the patient out by themselves.

At approximately 10:54 a.m., WPFR stated that one of the stuck individuals was being transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
