Travel company Expedia Group made another round of cuts to its technology staff, and the number of jobs that will be lost in Seattle has now been confirmed.

Ranging from the vice president of experience design role to several director-level jobs, engineers, and product managers, 162 roles will be cut at its Seattle headquarters. It is estimated that 10% of the technology team’s roles were eliminated.

An Expedia spokesperson told The Puget Sound Business Journal that the company is simplifying its structure and “reducing organizational layers.”

“We are eliminating roles as well as opening some new roles as we remain disciplined about assessing the skills we need for the future,” the spokesperson said in a statement to The Puget Sound Business Journal. “These are not easy decisions, and we are grateful for the contributions of our colleagues who are impacted.”

Many Seattle-based employees shared news of the layoffs on LinkedIn.

The company stated that some of these jobs may be relocated or contracted out. Expedia had an estimated 16,500 employees by the end of 2024, including 3,300 in the Puget Sound region.
