A local loan officer has been charged with stealing more than a million dollars from a Tacoma charity.

Jeffrey Goodell is facing federal bank fraud charges for allegedly draining the accounts of the Tacoma Rescue Mission, which serves the city’s homeless and people struggling with addiction.

The Seattlepi.com reports Goodell is charged with stealing $1.3 million from the charity with a series of fraudulent loans, using forged emails and other schemes to hide the theft.

Goodell also reportedly shaved his head and claimed to have cancer to keep the scam from being discovered. He is accused of getting other people involved to keep the scheme going.
