With the Seahawks season nearing, Lumen Field will now allow fans to buy beer, wine, and snacks without waiting in a checkout line at a new vendor on the upper concourse — the District Market.

Ahead of the regular season opener Sept. 12, the store will feature Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, which uses a network of cameras, sensors, and software to track customers as they shop. Eliminating the need for a checkout counter, this technology automatically charges customers for the snacks and beverages in hand as they walk out of the store.

District Market — located in the upper concourse in section 323 — will be the first store in an NFL stadium to feature both Amazon One and Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology.

“We are continually looking at new ways to innovate and modernize our fan experience,” said Zach Hensley, Seahawks vice president of operations and general manager at Lumen Field, in a prepared statement. “We are proud to bring this technology to our fans so they can spend more time enjoying the game.”

The store will offer beer, wine, seltzers, and nonalcoholic beverages, alongside gameday snacks from the “stadium’s community neighbors” in the Chinatown International District, according to the news release published Thursday.

Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is also in stores at T-Mobile Park and Climate Pledge Arena, as well as many Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh stores in Seattle.

Lumen Field to celebrate 20th anniversary with various upgrades, modernization

The launch of the District Market comes alongside a series of renovation projects throughout the stadium in the offseason, including two open-air food and beverage areas with premium field views called Cityside Bars, two new video boards in the north end of the stadium, and a new premium-ticketed hospitality area called the Tunnel Club, located adjacent to the home locker room.

Lumen Field just celebrated its 20th year of operation, as its doors opened for the first time July 28, 2002.
