Man found dead in hide-a-bed after Seattle apartment fire

Dec 12, 2012, 8:29 AM | Updated: 9:31 am

A man was found dead after a Tuesday night fire sparked inside a north Seattle apartment.

Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the fire started in a second-story apartment. Fire crews found an adult man dead on a hide-a-bed inside the unit.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to any of the other 32 apartments in the complex.

Residents from the apartment building were kept outside for a little over an hour while firefighters calmed the blaze.

“We had to test all the CO levels to make sure there wasn’t any carbon monoxide still in the building, and once that was all safe we let people back in,” said Moore.

Neighbors told Moore the victim lived alone. Crews didn’t find anyone else inside the apartment.

The name and age of the victim are unknown, but firefighters suspect the man was in his 40’s.
