Police say a man was found shot to death in a North Seattle parking lot late Sunday night.

The victim, 54-year-old David L. Peterson, had called 911 to say he was being robbed at gunpoint for his cellphone.

When officers arrived at the scene in the area of N. 85th and 1st Ave. NW he was found sitting in his car with a single gunshot wound. Seattle Fire pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say three suspects were seen running from the scene. They are described as a black male, 20-30 years old, 5’10 tall, thin build, and wearing a Northface jacket. The second is a black, short male. The third is a white female.

Investigators believe the three suspects may have been committing robberies in the area. They believe this was the motive in the shooting.

Peterson and his wife moved to Seattle about two years from San Diego. She works in the King County prosecutor’s office.

Homicide and CSI detectives are investigating. Anyone with information about the shooting or suspects is asked to call 206-233-5000.
