A 43-year-old man has been shot in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.

The shooting happened at First Avenue and Clay Street, about a block from the KIRO 7 studios.

A KIRO 7 photographer heard four shots, ran to help, and called 911 at about 3:15 a.m..

The shooter fled the scene.

The victim, a homeless man who lives in a nearby alley, has non-life-threatening injuries. He told police that he was sleeping in the alley when an unknown person shot him. The victim ran down the street and collapsed at First Ave. and Clay Street.

Seattle Fire took the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators recovered several shell casings in the area but did not locate any suspects.

Last week, five people were shot in 24 hours in Seattle, leaving one person dead.

Seattle police Chief Kathleen O’Toole released a statement Thursday saying the department is outraged by the recent gun violence and will not tolerate it. She reports police have been working with federal, state, and county partners, increasing patrols where shooting scenes unfolded.
