Deputies: Man shoots, kills wife in Bellingham

Deputies are investigating a homicide Thursday in Bellingham.

According to investigators, deputies responded to a report of a murder and suicide at a condominium complex in the 900 block of Marine Drive before 10:30 a.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 58-year-old woman dead in her apartment from an apparent gunshot wound, deputies said.

Investigators said her 56-year-old husband, who was also inside the apartment, appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and is under the Sheriff’s Office guard.

Deputies said a dog and cat were found fatally shot.

The identities of the victim and her husband are not being released at this time.

Deputies do not believe that there is a threat to the community.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The 900 block of Marine Drive is located in the Birchwood neighborhood and is about two miles south of Bellingham International Airport.
