Renton police are on the hunt for a man suspected of stealing cash from a parked armored car.

The driver saw the suspect walking from the back of the vehicle in the 200 S. Third St. in Renton about 11:08 a.m. Thursday, but it wasn’t discovered until later that cash was missing. The driver apparently left the door unlocked, police say.

Store security captured the man on surveillance video. He’s described as black, 30 to 40 years old, 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10. The man was wearing a black jacket, blue or black jeans, a black and white scarf, and mirrored wire-rimmed sunglasses.

A possible suspect vehicle is described as a newer black sedan, possibly a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz, with shiny rims.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500 and reference case 14-5125.
