Man stuck in railway car for 18 hours

A man told the Seattle Fire Department he was stuck in a dry goods train car for 18 hours.
The 25-year-old man told authorities he was stuck in the train car since Tuesday night. It is not clear why he was in the car in the first place.
“That is the question of the day,” Seattle Fire spokesman Kyle Moore said.
The man was transported to Swedish Ballard as a precaution, Moore said. He was cold and his body was stiff, but he appeared to be in good health otherwise, he said.
“Basically, he could not move,” Moore said, adding that was because he was stuck in one position for so long.
Seattle Fire was called to the 6200 block of Seaview Avenue NW near Shilshole shortly after 8 a.m., after two people walking by heard the man yelling for help.
When firefighters arrived, they found the man’s feet sticking in the air. His head was sticking out below the car, Moore said.
Firefighters pulled the man from the top of the car, feet first, Moore said.
Firefighters checked the man for injuries and hypothermia, Moore said. The man was not dressed for cold weather, he said.
Moore could not say whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
“That’s something they’ll look at [in the hospital],” he said.
