This period of wet weather will end just in time for Seattle Mariners’ Opening Day on Thursday.

Rain is expected in the lowlands on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Cascades. Up to 18 inches of snow is expected to fall in the next two days in some areas of the mountain range. Snow levels were approximately 1,500 feet Monday morning, but were expected to rise to 3,500 feet.

Things are expected to dry out by Wednesday.

Thursday will be cloudy. KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard says it will rain in some areas, but not as far south as Seattle.

It’s only the third time the Mariners have started their season at home since 2008.

The Mariners play the Cleveland Indians on Thursday at Safeco Field. First pitch is 7:10 p.m.
