Southbound I-5 is open again after a semi truck crashed at 88th Street NE in Marysville. The freeway was blocked for about three hours on Wednesday evening.

WSDOT tweeted around 8:10 p.m. that all lanes were open. Before that, two lanes reopened around 7 p.m.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman, the semi-truck jack-knifed after the driver fell asleep, went on to the right shoulder, and then hit the guardrail. After that, he crossed over all lanes of traffic before hitting the guardrail on the other side.

No one was hurt, and no other vehicles were involved, although fuel tanks were ruptured, spilling between 50 and 80 gallons of fuel onto the freeway.
