Marysville neighbors recount dramatic windstorm rescue

New details paint a harrowing picture of a rescue during Friday’s windstorm.
At the height of this crisis, a woman living along 56th Drive took a direct hit from a fallen tree.

“There was this young lady that was upstairs, sleeping upstairs in the back left corner of the house, and now she’s downstairs with a tree on top of her,” noted Rodney Peterson, a neighbor.
Peterson said he heard a terrifying boom.
From there, he made a mad dash into his neighbor’s home to help.
“We just tried to clear everything away from EMS to get here, and that’s what happened,” he told KIRO 7.
Sani Tala-Taina Sopi’s daughter tried performing CPR.
“(My daughter) was trying to revive her. She noticed that her whole body was turning blue,” Sopi said.
Marysville Firefighters told KIRO 7 that the woman was taken away from the neighborhood in critical condition.
That was Friday night.
Since then, KIRO 7 has reached out to firefighters, police officers, and Providence Hospital to see if that woman survived, but we’re still waiting for any new information.
Yet, in an ominous sign, flowers and candles have since been placed outside the woman’s home.
“I just started crying. And immediately I went to HOA and said, ‘We have to do something,’” said Katrina, a board member of the neighborhood HOA. “I got two kids at home and there’s a lot of kids in here, so we gotta look out for each other.”
Power along 56th Drive was out for more than 48 hours, adding extra gloom to an already dark situation.
