A mass shooting broke out in Lakewood Wednesday night, sending several people to the hospital.

The shooting occurred at Lakewood’s Harry Todd Park at approximately 8 p.m., according to the Lakewood Police Department. Seven people were injured in the shooting and sent to nearby hospitals.

The Lakewood Police Department (LPD) said one of them, a 38-year-old man, remains in critical condition. Two people, a 19-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, are in serious condition. Four others, ranging in age from 16 to 18, are described as “stable.”

Detectives say it appears gunfire erupted during a dispute between two groups of people at Harry Todd Park, along American Lake, just before 8 PM, last night [Weds].

The park was crowded and some of the victims were bystanders.

In a statement, police made no mention of arrests, although they say detectives continue to work through tips and evidence, gathered at the scene.

Lakewood police described the scene as “very hectic” and “chaotic,” with gunshots sending people running for cover.

“No suspects in custody,” the Lakewood Police Department told KIRO Newsradio. “Detectives are still working through trying to identify the suspects and who was involved in it.”

Detectives are working to determine whether this mass shooting was targeted or random.

Three people remain in critical condition, as of this reporting. Harry Todd Park remains closed to the public.
