Mercer mess: Ramps to I-5 closed this weekend

Drivers should know that the Mercer Street work will also include some lane restrictions on Fairview Avenue Friday night only. Additionally, the ramp to northbound I-5 at University Street will remain closed all weekend for safety reasons.
Mercer Street near I-5 in Seattle is a must to avoid this weekend starting Friday night.
Contractors working on the Mercer Street corridor project will close the ramps to and from I-5 all weekend.
“This is a full weekend closure of the I-5 on and off ramps at Mercer Street that will start Friday night at 11 p.m. and run until Monday morning at 5 a.m.,” according to Rick Sheridan with the Seattle Department of Transportation.
Detours go into effect Friday night. “Take advantage of some of those exits that are due south of the Mercer corridor – although we do highlight that Denny Way is very often heavily traveled during a Mercer-I-5 on-and-off-ramp closure,” said Sheridan. He suggests SR 99 might be a good option to avoid I-5.
