Mill Creek homicide, crash victim were husband and wife

Police investigating a homicide and a fatal car crash in Mill Creek say the two people involved were husband and wife.

Mill Creek Police believe the man crashed into a parked semi-truck after he shot and killed his wife who was pregnant.

Officers found the woman dead in an apartment shortly after midnight Monday. Soon after, police say her husband crashed his car into a parked semi-truck.

Friends of the couple told police they had gone to the apartment Sunday night when the woman called them over after her husband started acting strangely and had a loaded shotgun.

“A couple of the friends came back to the apartment where they were and tried to calm the situation, which they thought they were able to do,” said Officer Ian Durkee.

Durkee says the couple had spent the day with friends and had been drinking.

“The amount of alcohol that was consumed had an effect on the husband’s mood essentially. That may not have been the only thing that was a factor but we do understand that they did consume a fair amount of liquor.”
