Update:The Ball Python that was missing was found safe and sound at a Seattle animal shelter, the owner reports. As it turns out, the python had been there since Monday.

Original story

A Ball Python with a history of escape attempts is on the lamb.

The python has been missing from his 59th Street Phinney Ridge home for three days, according to his owner.

“He’s escaped before, but never out of the house,” the owner wrote to MyNorthwest. The python did escape from his previous owner’s home. “So he has a history of going on journeys, I suppose.”

A Seattle animal shelter reported finding a python, which has not been verified as the same one.

The weather around the neighborhood is “perfect” for a Ball Python, according to the owner. They are nocturnal, so he is likely hiding in shade or brush.

“Usually, he likes to find a quiet spot and stays there all day, and moves around at night,” the owner wrote. “The nights are very cool, so he may be out sunning at some points in the day.”

The python is not a threat to humans or animals, other than rodents. However, he does have a weight problem. Balls are picky eaters and this one is on the skinny-side from under-eating.

“He should be fine for a few days, but I know he’s pretty hungry,” the owner wrote.

The python is about 4.5-feet long and 2 to 3 inches in girth. He has a wound on his right eye.

The owner wants her python to hurry home, &#8212 there are a bunch of rats waiting for him.
