Calling it close to a “blank check,” the Seattle Municipal League is recommending a ‘no’ vote on the Seattle bus funding measure.

In its analysis, the Muni League says Proposition One was conceived as an emergency funding measure in the face of sweeping service reductions. It seeks an annual license fee and a sales tax increase.

But now, Metro’s improving finances have allowed for the suspension of proposed service cuts, originally scheduled to take effect in early 2015. So, the Muni League says a ‘yes’ vote might signal voters’ willingness to support ongoing supplemental bus funding.

The Muni League also recommends a ‘no’ vote on the monorail planning measure, Citizen Petition Number One.
