King County prosecutors say a man exposed himself to young girls and then tried to rob them.

Officials say Andrei Bauer attacked the girls in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood on June 19.

They say two 11-year-old girls were walking to a convenience store that afternoon when Bauer stripped all of his clothes off and tried to rob them while naked.

That’s when a woman nearby jumped in to save them.

“And he’s trying to grab the little girl, and saved the little girl, I grabbed her, and everybody took off,” said witness Gypsy Vielle.

Police say all the homeless people in the neighborhood went after the naked man so he wouldn’t get away.

“It doesn’t matter that we’re homeless. Hey, this is not happening in my community,” said Armani Dominguez-Hernandez.

Bauer, 27, was arrested.

Police say he was arrested in 2016 for exposing himself to four children at Beacon Hill Elementary, which is blocks from where the latest incident happened.

They say in that case, the courts agreed to amend his charges if he agreed to get treatment, but officials say that never happened.

“It is troubling that the court dropped the first case without following through with any mandated treatment since it allowed Bauer back onto the streets to potentially harm other children,” the King County Prosecutor’s Office said.

This time, prosecutors requested a higher bail for Bauer, hoping it will prevent him from getting out of jail, for now.

Bauer is charged with first-degree attempted theft, felony harassment and indecent exposure.
