Naked man damages Seattle yacht club

Sep 16, 2013, 5:11 AM | Updated: 10:07 am

Several boats and the docks of a Seattle yacht club were damaged Sunday night by a half-naked man piloting a stolen boat.

Seattle Police say the 22-year-old man was high when he broke into the Queen City Yacht Club on Portage Bay, stole a 35-foot yacht, and then started ramming everything in his way.

He hit multiple yachts and the docks, all while people were on them. Detective Jeff Kappel said a man fearing for his life, grabbed a gun, and took a shot.

“He armed himself with a shotgun and fired at the suspect, striking the suspect in the head and the hand,” Detective Kappel said. “That brought the suspect’s actions to a halt.”

The suspect’s injuries are not serious, but he was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Police say he’ll face several felonies.

He was naked from the waist down when arrested.
