A local alcohol retailer is going try to break a world record.
Total Wine & More in Bellevue is celebrating its grand opening Thursday by trying to break the Guinness World Record of most wine bottles uncorked at the same time.
“We carry the most Washington state wines in the greater Seattle area, so we had the idea of working with Washington vineyards and wine makers,” said Total Wine spokesperson Ed Cooper.
“At the very least are going to have 309 people to break the world record, and we’re hoping for even more.”
Cooper said volunteers will have to give the wine back to be re-corked and used later for wine tastings.
The current record of 308 bottles was set at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas earlier this year.
