Bargain hunters are getting a new outlet at Northgate
Mall, with Seattle retailer Nordstrom Rack announcing
it’ll open its sixth Seattle-area store in November.
The discount division of Nordstrom will take over the
41,000 square feet space previously occupied by Toys R’ Us
at the mall’s southeast corner.
Nordstrom also operates a full-line store at Northgate,
where it first opened as a shoe store in 1950 before
expanding to a full-line store in 1965.
The company has been locating more of its off-price Rack
stores near its top-performing full-line clothing stores,
including in downtown Seattle at Westlake Center, where it
recently opened a Rack store next to its flagship.
“Northgate has been a special home to us for over 60
years, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to add a
Nordstrom Rack in such a terrific location in our
hometown,” Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, said
in a statement.
Nordstrom Rack also operates stores in Bellevue, Auburn,
Lynnwood and Tukwila.
