Northbound SR 509 closed as crews battle house fire

All lanes of northbound State Route 509 are blocked near South Cloverdale Street in south Seattle as crews respond to a residential fire in the area, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Firefighters are on the scene of the house fire located at 10485 8th Avenue South, according to Puget Sound Fire.
The fire extended into vegetation surrounding the property and smoke billowing in the air can be seen from miles away.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes during the closure.
There is no estimated time for the route’s reopening.
