Northwest ski resorts readying for season openings

As snow continues to blanket mountain tops a few resorts are opening their slopes.
The Mount Baker Ski Area opens Thursday. Baker reported 37 inches of snow at the base of Heather Meadows and more than 60 inches of snow at the top of Pan Dome on Nov. 17. It’s only received “traces” of snow in the last 24 hours, according to the ski area’s snow report.
Also opening Thursday is Whistler Mountain with five lifts and eight runs in Whistler, B.C. Whistler is opening one week ahead of schedule. Neighboring Blackcomb Mountain is slated to open on Nov. 26. The resort has received about 1.5 inches of snow in the last two days and nearly 2 feet in the past week.

Stevens Pass’ opening date remains tentative as skiers wait and see if enough snow will drop. Stevens has a tentative opening date of Nov. 25.
The forecast for Stevens calls for less than 3 inches of snow in the next 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service. It is expected to be clear through Sunday with no snow.
The Summit at Snoqualmie has no opening date listed.
