National Weather Service: ‘Increasing confidence’ of weekend storm

The National Weather Service in Seattle said Tuesday it has “increasing confidence in a cold late season storm impacting the region this weekend.”

This storm could bring rain, mountain snow, and cold temperatures starting Friday. The NWS is also predicting strong winds and the chance for lowland snow in some spots Friday and Saturday.
WSDOT is preparing its plows in Eastern Washington.

In Western Washington, expect dangerous mountain travel in the Cascades throughout the weekend. Sub-freezing temperatures will creep into the region starting Saturday, affecting vulnerable populations, plants, pets, and pipes, according to NWS predictions.
Snow accumulations are currently expected to remain light, if any, but there is a chance for a rain-snow mix, mostly north of Seattle.

Strong winds are also predicted, picking up on Friday and lasting through Sunday. Be cautious near trees and power lines, and plan for cold temperatures.
If there’s no snow, there is a strong possibility of rain, though NWS Seattle does not expect flooding.
