Olympia coach won’t get job back

The boy’s basketball coach at Capital High School in Olympia won’t be getting his job back after his players were involved in a hazing incident.

Parents and former players believe coach Galloway took too much of the blame for what his current kids did at a summer camp. They asked the school board to reconsider his firing. After 75 minutes behind closed doors, The Olympian reports the board upheld the district’s decision on Galloway’s firing.

Galloway was away at a coach’s function during the camp when some upper-classmen on his team forced sexual contact on some younger players in the dorms. Though Galloway followed all the proper steps after the incident, the district decided he failed to provide enough supervision.

Members of the school board said their job is to protect students and coaches.

The popular coach remains a P.E. teacher and the girls golf coach.
