One person is dead after a crash involving a vehicle and a fire engine, Seattle Police said.

The collision occurred near North 128th Street and Aurora Avenue North.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

According to KIRO7 News, a Seattle Fire Department ladder truck was making a right turn onto southbound Aurora Ave. N. from N. 128th, when a vehicle slammed into it.

The collision killed the 29-year-old driver of a Chevy Malibu that struck the fire engine.

And it injured an 18-year-old male passenger in the car.

No firefighters were hurt.

Collision investigators say the Malibu was also headed southbound on Aurora, and was traveling at a high rate of speed.

In a post on X, the Seattle Police Department said Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives had been called to the scene.

The post advised drivers to expect traffic delays along Aurora Avenue.

According to KIRO7, Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins offered condolences to the families of those injured in the collision:

We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and serious injury of the two vehicle occupants involved in this morning’s collision with a Seattle Fire ladder truck. Their families and loved ones are in our thoughts during this difficult time. Seattle Police are investigating this traffic collision and will release more information as available.”
