One person died and another was injured in a shooting at a South Hill house party early Sunday morning, police said.

Police received 911 calls at 2:47 a.m. reporting the shooting at a residence in the 12100 block of 105th Avenue Court East.

Officials said there was a fight in the street followed by several shots getting fired.

At least two people were hit. One has since died, and the other is at an area hospital.

Neighbors reported around 70 people in attendance, mostly under the age of 21, police said.

Neighbors also said music was blaring and that 20 cars filled the street.

“We think that some kind of disagreement/argument happened, which lead to people pulling out guns and shooting,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Darren Moss.

KIRO 7 obtained new crime scene photos from the sheriff’s department showing strayed bullet holes, which were left in a neighbor’s garage door and other parts of the property.

Witness told KIRO 7 they heard as many as 12 gunshots.

“When deputies arrived on scene, they say it was a chaotic situation,” said Moss.

KIRO 7 found out that the person renting the apartment was not home and that someone under 21 was hosting the party.

When deputies arrived, they found an 18-year-old man down in the middle of the fray.

“They had to, basically, perform what we do for an officer rescue and go down in a group, collected the victim and brought him all the way back over here — a block away,” Moss said.

Medics rushed the teen to Tacoma General Hospital, where he later died.

“Closer to three o’clock in the morning, there was another person who showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds,” Moss said. “At this time, we do believe that person was at the party and was involved with the shooting.”

Deputies spent the day collecting bullet casings and speaking to witnesses and had detained everyone found at the party to question them, but they were later released.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
