The US Marshals Service has taken Tony Clyde Reed into custody and booked him into the San Diego jail.

“We understand that he had arranged with the Marshal service to turn himself in,” said Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. “He is the brother of John Reed. Both of the brothers are suspected of murdering Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude in April.”

“He is a previously convicted felon. We have been concerned about law enforcement searching for him,” she said. “They are both known to be armed and dangerous, so having him in custody is a big sigh of relief for us tonight.”

Authorities have been hunting Tony, 49, and his brother, John Blaine Reed, 53, since April. The two are suspected and have been charged with the murder of the Arlington couple.

“We are still conducting that murder investigation. We are still looking for Shunn and Patenaude’s bodies,” Ireton said.

John is still on the loose. But it is hoped that having Tony in custody will help investigators with the case.

“He could be crucial to locating Patrick and Monique’s bodies. We believe he will have information that could lead us to them,” Ireton said.

It was previously suspected that the brothers fled to Mexico after police were on their trail from Washington to the border.

Ireton said it is unknown just yet when Tony will be transferred to Snohomish County.

“Justice needs to be served and this is one step in that process,” she said.
