Pacific Science Center reopens its doors after 2 years

The Pacific Science Center is reopening its doors after more than two years of being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While it had a series of virtual exhibits and learning opportunities through its website, the physical location reopened Wednesday, July 6.
The PacSci center houses two IMAX theaters and a laser dome alongside its many interactive exhibits. For the first time ever, daytime laser shows will now also be included as part of general admission.
Visitors will now be able to explore an immersive planetarium, an educational maze, a dinosaur exhibit, a live science stage, and a tropical butterfly house with over 1,000 insects and plants from around the world. Experiences also include new and updated augmented reality exhibits.
One of the newest exhibits in the PacSci is the Water’s Extreme Journey maze, which takes visitors through the water cycle and aims to educate them about the importance of clean water.
In speaking about the importance of its virtual exhibits started during the closure, Tracy Sawan the Marketing and Communications Manager at the Pacific Science Center, talked about how important accessibility was and was a big reason why the Science Center would continue to put up and maintain virtual content.
“STEM education is important as it’s ever been, whether that is due to a global pandemic or climate change. So we are really proud and grateful for the opportunity to share accessible STEM education with the community,” Sawan said.
PacSci will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the summer. Tickets are available for purchase both online and on-site.
