Wisconsin native John Yeager has had Monday night’s game between the Seahawks and his beloved Packers circled on his calendar for a long time. But his enthusiasm has been dampened after hearing from numerous fans if he wears green and gold, he could end up black and blue.
“I take it with a grain of salt, except for I keep hearing from Seahawks fans I shouldn’t wear green and gold, I shouldn’t cheer too loud. I’m just sort of surprised that I’m hearing this.”
Yeager has lived and worked in Seattle for over 20 years and usually roots for the Seahawks. He says he was taken aback by Seahawks fans boorish behavior the last time Green Bay played in Seattle.
“C’mon, this is Seattle. We’re supposed to be polite. They were throwing nuts at them, one guy got a little wild with some beer. It was surprising,” he says.
Still, Yeager says as a lifetime cheesehead, he won’t be talked out of his Packers shirt and hat for Monday night’s game. He hopes the only hassle he gets is some good-natured ribbing, especially if his home town team scores a big win.
