Part of hospital in Puyallup closed, evacuated for investigation

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Part of the Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup was closed and evacuated Sunday morning. An investigation there involved a vehicle parked at the main entrance, police said.
Officers say a man arrived at the hospital Sunday morning with a hand wound from an explosive device. The car he and another man arrived in remained parked near the main entrance.
That vehicle was checked for possible explosives. A bomb squad was at the scene, along with police. The vehicle was searched and cleared by 11:45 a.m.
Police said the hospital would fully reopen shortly afterward.
The main entrance to the hospital was closed. The top floor of the parking garage was also closed.
Entrance into the hospital was allowed only through the emergency entrance.
Areas around the main entrance and the main floor of the hospital were evacuated. Some patients closest to the main entrance were also evacuated, officials with the hospital said.
The main entrance of Good Samaritan hospital is now open as well as the top level of the parking garage.
