It’s been several weeks since Seattle lost beloved TV
clown J.P. Patches to cancer. His faithful followers are
continuing to push a petition to convince the city to rename
34th Street in Fremont to “Patches Place.”

The online petition posted on Change.org says “renaming
34th Street would be perfect, because it leads to one of the
city’s dumps, and every Patches Pal knows that J.P. was
the mayor of the city dump.”

Over 1,400 people have signed the petition so far, but
creator Judith Lavik is seeking at least 5,000.

Chris Wedes, the icon who brought J.P. Patches into
Northwest homes for over 20 years, passed away July 22. He was 84.

“Although a bronze sculpture was recently placed on this
same street, we Patches Pals want more,” Lavik writes.

There’s no official word from the city on a potential name
change.
