Pilot survives plane crash into car at South Hill parking lot

A 53-year-old pilot flying from Thun Field to his home airport in Auburn survived after he crashed into a car on Thursday afternoon in a South Hill parking lot.
According to Pierce County sheriff’s deputies, the small plane lost power after takeoff.
It crashed in the Sunrise Village shopping center located at Meridian and 160th Street East.
The plane flipped and hit an unoccupied car, authorities said. However, the pilot was able to get out of the plane by himself.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
“The pilot is up, walking around with minor injuries,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer. “He’s shook up but going to be OK.”
The pilot was the only person in the single-engine plane.
The 53-year-old pilot somehow made it out of this wreckage alive, after crashing on takeoff into a car in the Target parking lot in Puyallup. The owner of the car had just parked and walked into the store with three children. She called it “a blessing of good timing.” pic.twitter.com/hgmmzNQvw2
