Lake Stevens neighbors provide first aid after pilot seriously injured in small plane crash

Neighbors quickly responded after a small plane crashed in Lake Stevens Sunday evening.

Around 6 p.m., Getchell firefighters responded to a single-engine aircraft crash near the 11000 block of 127th Ave. NE, according to Snohomish County Fire District #22.

At the time, fire crews were handling an unrelated medical call nearby. A Getchell chief officer diverted to the plane crash and found the plane in a yard adjacent to the Frontier Air Park community.

The pilot, who was the only person in the plane, was trapped inside with serious injuries. Neighbors provided first aid before firefighters arrived, officials noted.

“Their quick actions helped provide the best possible outcome for the occupant,” Snohomish County Fire District #22 wrote.

Pilot transported to nearby trauma center after crashing in Lake Stevens

Additional units responded and helped extract the pilot, who was transported to a nearby trauma center.

The crash is being investigated by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities noted that there is no ongoing risk to the community.

Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, Granite Falls Fire, Marysville Fire District, and Snohomish County Fire District 19 each assisted with the crash.
