Police believe arson, vandalism retribution for Jenise Wright killing

Bremerton police say arson and vandalism of two cars targeted family friends of the teen arrested for the killing of 6-year-old Jenise Wright.

Sgt. Kevin Crane says police were called to a home in the 3300 block of Pine Street in East Bremerton around 1 a.m. Thursday, where one car had been set on fire and another vandalized.

“The victims in this case are close friends with the mother of the homicide suspect and it appears this may be some sort of retaliation,” Crane says.

Writing on one of the cars indicated the vandalism was in response to Jenise’s murder. The little girl disappeared Aug. 2, and her body was found last week.

17-year-old Garbriel Gaeta was arrested Saturday and is being held on $1 million bail.

Crane refused to disclose what was written on the car. With emotions running high in the community, officials are pleading with the public to let law enforcement and the justice system do its job.

“There are many families including the victims and the suspects families, all of whom are grieving,” he says.
