Police investigate potential connection in two West Seattle shootings

Apr 2, 2013, 5:50 AM | Updated: 7:34 am

Two separate shootings Monday night in West Seattle left both victims with serious injuries.

The first happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 2900 block of SW Charleston Street, near the West Seattle Bridge and Avalon Way. A 27-year-old man was shot several times in the torso and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Seattle Police Detective Jeff Kappel says two male suspects were seen running away from the scene and getting into a light colored vehicle. They are still at large.

Nearly 30 minutes later, at 11:47 p.m., police received a 911 call about a shooting in the 5600 block of Delridge Way SW. A 19-year-old man was shot in the arm, leg and torso. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

“It’s unknown at this time if the two shootings in West Seattle are related, however we are obviously looking into that possibility,” says Kappel.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call 911. You can also give an anonymous tip to the Seattle Police Department.
