Police investigating mysterious death of 12-year-old in Tacoma

The Tacoma Police Department is investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy on Friday afternoon that the department described as “suspicious” in the city’s South End.

Officers were sent to a home in the 4000 block of South Lawrence Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive child just after 3 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the Tacoma Police Department.

Emergency responders from both the police department and Tacoma Fire arrived at the scene. The boy was pronounced dead by fire personnel.

Officials have not yet released details about the circumstances or the child’s identity. The investigation remains active, and authorities stated more information will be shared as it becomes available.
