Four children from Kirkland have lost their mother and police don’t think her death was a random attack.

Lt. Mike Murray said 28-year-old Amy Gang Hargrove was found dead in her own home on Monday.

Arriving officers believed the woman’s death appeared suspicious, so they called in the Washington State Patrol crime lab and the medical examiner’s office.

They determined Hargrove’s death was a result of asphyxiation by manual strangulation.

Police believe the young mother was likely killed by someone she knew.

“Our detectives have interviewed a subject. They didn’t want to release the relationship or the person’s name at this time,” said Murray. “But they also wanted me to let people know that it’s not a random assault. They believe the suspect knew the victim.”
