This is the fifth year the law enforcement has put emphasis patrols on the water on the weekend before the 4th of July holiday to remind boaters about the dangers of boating under the influence.

You can bet it’s going to busy on the water this weekend, and the police are going to be out there with you too, making sure no one is boating and drinking.

“Operation Dry Water” is underway this weekend across the nation.

This is the fifth year the police have put emphasis patrols on the water on the weekend before the 4th of July holiday to remind boaters about the dangers of boating under the influence. There will also be officers on the docks and boat launches looking for drunk boaters.

Alcohol continues to be the leading cause of accidents on the water. Thirty-six people have died in Washington waters in the last six years in drunk boating accidents.

The police won’t just be making arrests, they will be reminding every boater they see about the dangers of drinking and boating.
