A crew hired to clean Safeco Field after the end of the season is accused of stealing over $11,000 worth of Mariners jerseys from several retail kiosks around the ballpark.
The Mariners head of security notified Seattle police of the incident after it was discovered, says Det. Patrick Michaud.
The thefts, which occurred two days after the final game of the season, were caught on surveillance cameras.
No arrests have been made. Police are working with Labor Works in Tacoma – the company that hired the cleaning crews – to identify the thieves, Michaud says.
A Mariners spokesperson confirms the jerseys did belong to the team but tells KIRO TV the team won’t comment because it’s an ongoing investigation.
