UPDATE: The suspect in a missing person case was taken into custody Thursday morning.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Department reports state troopers found James Stidd on I-90 in Adams County around 1 a.m. He was booked into jail for four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police will continue their search for a missing woman.
Gail Doyle, 60, was last seen June 2 near Martin Way East and Devoe Street Northeast in Olympia.
Doyle is described as white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 108 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes.
On Wednesday, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said Doyle’s disappearance occurred under suspicious circumstances.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Doyle was in the company of 66-year-old James Stidd. They were seen at a local tavern engaged in a verbal argument.
Authorities said the two left in Stidd’s 1996 Honda Civic, described as a four-door vehicle, blue with an unmatched grey hood, with Washington plate ACM7289.
Stidd told police that Doyle asked to get out of the vehicle and he complied by letting her out on Martin Way in the area of Azteca Bowling Lanes. He said this was his last contact with her.
Olympia police conducted a search of Stidd’s home on Wednesday and found “undisclosed evidence” at the residence.
Police asked the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office to take the primary role in the investigation.
