Police in Puyallup shot and killed a man wanted as part of a felony assault investigation Sunday night.
A pair of Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies, an officer from the Buckley Police Department, and a Puyallup police officer went to a home in the 1700 block of Kilt Court in Puyallup in search of the suspect. The suspect was a 30-year-old white male, according to a release from the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.
The Buckley officer had probable cause to arrest the suspect for felony assault and harassment from an incident in the city of Carbonado earlier in the day.
Shots were reportedly fired by officers around 9 p.m. Sunday when the suspect was encountered by police in the roadway near the residence. The officers called for medical aid and provided life saving measures. Details as to what led to the shooting are unclear at this point. No officers were hurt, while the suspect was declared deceased at the scene.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is investigating. The involved officers and deputies have been placed on administrative leave per their department policies.
