Police: Man who went for officer’s gun fatally shot by police in North Bend

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer in a public park in North Bend.

It happened at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Torguson Park near East North Bend Way. The park closes at 9 p.m.

Bellevue police said a Snoqualmie/North Bend police officer approached a group of people in the park, there was an altercation of some sort, and a man went for the officer’s weapon.

The officer shot the man, who died.

The officer was not hurt.

The Independent Force Investigation Team-King County, which investigates police use of deadly force incidents for 13 partner agencies, is at the scene.
