Police say a man swinging a sword terrorized his neighbors in a West Seattle apartment building early Thursday morning before officers took him down with multiple Taser shots.
Seattle Police Sgt. Sean Whitcomb says the first shot didn’t work.
“This person was so agitated and was able to swing away the wires, disrupting the electrical current,” he said.
As soon as the man dropped the sword, the officers were able to effectively deploy the Taser. When they got to him, the man needed CPR.
Police say the same guy had been hospitalized for a mental evaluation the day before after vandalizing a convenience store at 35th Avenue SW and SW Avalon Street and then calling 911 later in the day to complain about people under his bed.
