Two people were taken into custody after a driver suspected of a hit-and-run rammed an officer’s patrol vehicle, resulting in the officer firing shots at the car Saturday night in Medina, according to the Medina Police Department.

According to the Bellevue Police Department, which is handling the investigation, a Medina officer attempted to pull over a hit-and-run suspect at about 8:30 p.m.

The car was suspected of hitting a dog several miles further up on 112th Avenue in Bellevue and then fleeing, KIRO 7 found out from Medina Police Chief Steve Burns.

The Medina officer tracked the vehicle to the 7800 block of Northeast 12th Street.

The suspect rammed the officer’s patrol car, and then the officer got out and fired shots at the suspect’s car before he fled on foot, Bellevue investigators said.

The officer arrested the suspect after chasing him, Bellevue police said.

The passenger remained in the car and was also taken into custody.

No one was injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
