Poulsbo woman arrested for bringing explosive device to Bremerton hospital

Nov 14, 2013, 2:04 PM | Updated: 6:12 pm

A 43-year-old Poulsbo woman is in custody after sparking a bomb scare at a Bremerton hospital.

Police responded to a call just after 7:30 Thursday morning when the woman walked in to Harrison Medical Center and said she had a bomb in her car.

Officers immediately established a safe zone around the car and called in the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad, said Bremerton Police Lt. Peter Fisher.

Investigators later determined it was an explosive device, with six Carbon Dioxide canisters wrapped around it.

Detectives subsequently learned the woman might have additional explosive devices in her home located in the 1800 block of Lincoln Ave. in Poulsbo.

Investigators evacuated several homes in the neighborhood and the bomb squad searched the scene. Police say they found another suspicious device similar to the one found in the woman’s car at the hospital.

The woman was booked in the Kitsap County Jail on $100,00 bail.
