A man in Kent has been charged with murder, and prosecutors say it started with a dispute over a crinkly candy wrapper.

King County Prosecutors say Phillip Frazier just got out of prison after serving his sentence for violating a no-contact order.

He’s been living in a transitional house for two weeks.

According to charging documents, Frazier told Kent Police he was eating candy, and his roommate Danny Jones was mad about the noise coming from the candy wrapper.

It led to an argument and a savage beating.

Frazier told detectives he was a heavyweight boxer, and his fists alone could cause catastrophic damage to another human being.

“Anytime we ask for a high bail like this $4 million, we have to make a clear case somebody is a danger to the community, and in multiple other states. We had a pretty clear argument for that,” said Casey McNerthney with the King County Prosecutors Office.

Frazier’s arraignment is May 26th.
